For Racing games, it can be console or PC, it's all down to decent controls... You need pedals to control the accelarator usefully - "on" or "off" which you get with keyboard controls is poo.
My only experience of online play on a console was Motorstorm on PS3 on a wireless connection. Basically, it was crap and laggy to hell - I blame the wireless TBH.
