I'm not the greatest at computer problems but this may answer your question.

My old computer had similar problems. First it started with a 'Too little memory' message then it started shutting down after a game ended. Then in the middle of a game when a lot was on screen, then it wouldn't start properly.

I defragged it, virus scanned it but in the end it just wouldn't work

Solved the problem by buying a new one. All I know is the problem originated from the Memory and ended with the hard drive unable to work as it couldn't acsess it. I sent it to my In Laws in Ukraine who replaced the hard drive and it works fine apparently although they can't get the internet.

cant help without more info.

ive been having problems with the latest (beta i think) drivers from nvidia, could maybe be that.

what will happen when you exit a game is your drivers will swicth back to a "default" profile for your desktop, the latest (beta i think zzzZZ) drivers update default profiles for child wars and stuff

need more i.n.f.o.

Although I'm not saying it's your harddrive it's far more likely to be another issue.

Personally I'd look at whether you're PC is overheating or if you may have a faulty memory stick.

You might be overloading your power supply too (especially if you've added stuff to your PC like another drive or better GFX card) and it could be that the power suppply is faulty.

lots of things to check for...

signs of a broken hdd:

1) watch the hdd light on your case to see if its on and the computer locks up.

2) listen for clicks and bangs from the hdd itself

3) listen for the drive "stalling" - ie, spinning down, then spinning up again when trying to access data

4) problems accessing data at random intervals. ie, no actual corruption, but access issues.

your most likely to see these things when the hard drive is put under load, as its working hardest then.

if it were your power supply unit (psu) then signs are:

1) random reboots

2) locking up

3) cd drivers/usb sockets do not have power

looking for low power:
either when the cd drive tries to spin up, it failes, the drive wont open / unresponsive..

when usb devices have no/low power, could cause the usb device itself not to function, or be poor performance

After your computer crashes, restart into BIOS and check the heat of the CPU. Are you on ATI graphics card, mine was running up to 90oC at its max , just have to keep hoovering the dust out of it lol.

Ive got this thing with my motherboard tells me all the temps and votage of everything, which is pretty cool.

Bishop, go to bios and under power managment you will find the temps and all that in there, i think.

And get watercooling, you will never have an overheating problem again, unless its ur ram thats getting hot.
