Ok got my network sorted and built a mediacentre PC for the TV downstairs.
downstairs PC is using vista home premium 32bit
upstairs PC Vista Home Premium 64bit
Now I have shared the 'media' drive on the mediacentre PC I can see it over the networkbut when I try and access it it won't let me. I am not sure what I am doing wrong with the permissions as far as I know drive E: on the mediacentre PC allows all to see access and modify?
Help please... (beyond saying don't use vista) !

There are two stages to sharing under Vista...
Click the sharing tab in the folder/drive properties and share it, as you would normally.
Click the security tab in the folder and choose edit, then add, advanced, find now, and choose the user "everyone", click OK, OK again, and set the permissions for "everyone" to full control.
That should sort it.
