I was banned from the KM Empires server earlier today for "trouble maker". I find this ban extremely unfair, which is why I'm appealing it here.

Here was the situation:

The map was escort, I was on BE. At the start of the game we all built arty, I was successful, getting to the top position on the score board for our team, despite this, we failed to capture the first flag, and as a result, we ran out of money and before long we had no tanks and no cash, giving us little hope of getting to the flag.

Our situation was made worse by somebody, I am not sure who, who bought several (perhaps four?) jeeps, and then proceeded to drive each one onto mines. Realizing that we had very little time left to take this flag before we would have no hope, I too built a jeep, and drove it to the flag; skillfully avoiding the mines. Once at the flag myself, and emp_recruit attempted to capture it. However, we had no support and were killed, although we were close to capturing it. Encouraged by my previous success, I built another jeep, however I managed to get it lodged in between some crates, where it remained until somebody stickied it.

By this time others on the team were realizing that we were not winning, and they started looking for a scapegoat. Unfortunately, probably due to my name, I was blamed for ALL the jeeps constructed (as usual), not just the two I was responsible for. Wild stories started circulating: "I saw leet jeep build 10 jeeps!! OMG".

In a desperate effort to capture the flag, I constructed an APC with our remaining res and instructed people to get in. However, some players on the team were less than helpful. MgC|Petemyster in particular. Upon seeing the APC he immediately shouted that I had "yet again" griefed; claiming that we need all our res for arty. OFC many people in the chat disagreed with him, saying that an APC is exactly what we need in our situation, not arty (I have chat logs).

Soon after MgC|Petemyster says in chat "Don't shoot the messenger", and then I was banned. My guess is he asked a KM admin to ban me.

Do you think this ban was justified?

No I don't usually keep chat logs. Although after being banned I thought I better make a copy of what was said. Me having done nothing wrong and all.

yes it was me who banned because I really got bored of receiving complaints about you. Earlier that day ppl told me that you have been blocking the CV with a camera or something on crossroads and refused to recycle it when the commander asked you. I was playing at that time and I couldn’t see what was going on because I’ve probably been on the other side of the map or on the other team. By the time I go spec and switch through 30 other players just to see what you were doing, the situation was already solved because the commander recycled the blocking item himself. I can’t see everything what’s going on when I play and I cba to spec 24/7 to babysit the server, so I have to trust other ppl on the server when they complain about ppl messing around. So I kicked you as a warning.

Several maps and about 2 hours later I played on NF on escort and your team had a pretty hard time. After we have destroyed all your tanks and you hardly had a chance of capturing even the first flag, a big discussion on your team started about you wasting resources and tickets. I ignored it as I thought it’s just the usual whining when a team gets owned so badly. All I could see is you driving with a jeep out your base and almost instantly getting blown up. Yet again a big discussion starts on your team and ppl were getting really upset and ask me via steam friends to do something about it. In the next moment I see you driving another jeep out of your base and getting blown up again. So I decide to end it and as you have been kicked and warned earlier that day, the only consequence is to ban you.

And that’s only what happened 2 day’s ago when I banned you. There have been numerous complaints about you over the past 2 weeks.

Well, it’s exactly what you have been doing over the last 2 weeks! You build a jeep, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another jeep, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another jeep, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another jeep, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another jeep, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another jeep…
When your commander or teammates ask you to stop it you just ignore it and carry on. No surprise that ppl get fed up with that waste of resources and consider it as kind of griefing and complain to me about it. I thought that you would stop once you realize that you’re not achieving anything with it, but I was wrong. Now the incident on crossroads and escort was the last straw and I had to take action.

About the incident on crossroads:
I don't know who placed the camera, but I do know that McG|Petermyster (who was the comm at the time) saw me driving out of the base at the same time he saw the camera. He immediately blamed me. Mcg|Petemyster has a vendetta against me. On numerous occasions he has tried to report me for this and that, basically every little thing he can find that is possibly wrong.

You yourself Flame have admitted that you did not see me do anything wrong, you only heard it from him.

You say that "ppl were getting really upset and ask me via steam friends to do something about it". I think that that is an exaggeration. The ONLY person I saw complaining (after careful review of the log) was McG|Petemyster. And I would bet that he was the one who complained to you. (In fact I know he did because before I was banned he said "Don't shoot the messenger").

Another thing. You say you see me driving out of the base and getting blown up, I didn't know that getting blown up was a bannable offense, it certainly isn't on the server rules. It is impossible for me to know ahead of time where the mines are, as they are moved. Either I drive slowly and avoid the mines, but am guaranteed killed by the level 3 MLs and the grens that were continually mortaring us, OR I drive fast, avoid the MLs and grens, but take a chance with the mines. You can probably see now that driving fast is the only way to do things.

Although this is off the point I think that your argument that building jeeps is a waste of resources is flawed.

To quote:

Total kills: Usually between one and two per jeep, depending on the map and how far into the game we are. I OFC don't build jeeps on maps where they are useless.

Here is what everybody else does:

"Build a tank, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another tank, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another tank, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another tank, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another tank, drive to the enemy, get blown up, build another tank…"

Total cost: 6 tanks = between 4500 and 10000 res.
Total kills: Usually about equal to me, again depending on the map and how far into the game we are.

This whole thing sounds like a classic case of an admin takes McG|Petemysters word over mine, without adequate proof.

So, would you please give me another chance. I promise I won't do anything that could even be considered as griefing, such as getting blown up by the enemy. I also promise that from now on I will buy only the expensive tanks, and I will completely ignore the cheap yet effective jeeps.

OH AND EMPIRES HAS ABOUT <150 PLAYERS AND HALF PLAYING ON KM, BUT THANKS TO KM ADMINS THAT HALF IS GOING TO GET BANNED UNTIL KM SERVER IS EMPTY 24/7 AND ADMINS WON'T HAVE TO BABYSIT THE SERVER NO LONGER.



BTW PLEASE BAN MOOTARD (MOOTANT) OF BEING A RETARD AND WHINING AND BEING 16 AND GRIEFING ON THE KM SERVER.
