If the above doesnt work there are simple programs that limit the connection size for each progam. I used it years ago when connections were smaller to stop my wife n kids giving me a high ping. Cant remember the name now but Im sure you could find it on google.

NetLimiter is one. Bandwidth Controller is the most decent free alternative I could find for single user traffic shaping.

he had a wrt54g - Thanks to that good purchasing decision - he does have packet shaping built into his router which now should be active.
