i have a laptop and wireless router, well my dad does. how do i limit the bandwidth/download/upload speed etc etc to minimum for the wireless so i dont have a ping of like 5 million?

dunno how your router works but for mine you should have a website you use to access the routers details and options. somewhere in there you can choose how much bandwidth is used by other users.

tbh RTFM.
You need to find out if your router supports QoS or any form of packet shaping. Not many domestic ones do as its more of a "large amount of users" feature.
Once you find that out the next steps should be easy.
