A long overdue update to the Empires mod is out today. I've been following this mod since its creation and it brings a unique style of game play to the table.

Classes, FPS/RTS, Squads, Tanks, Huge maps, makes it a cross between the BF2 series, Team fortress series, plus the classic RTS elements you find in all RTS games, such as building barracks, factories, etc, managing your resources and income to finally the most fun - building tanks to blow the crap out of people ;]

The server is currently setup to support more gamers at the cost of lower in-game performance, all though [KM] do not normally run such low tick servers, as the CPU usage of the server is unknown, im playing it safe so the rush of people wanting to play from europe are not disappointed with lag.

Update: the mod is now public

great to see some of you made it, we had a full 48/48 players most of the night and even had a visit from one of the mod authors.. who commented on how it was a "poor server" - nice to know the effort to put up a large server for Europe was appreciated.

50% of the players were from the US area, so there were lots of high pings around, other than that, it ran pretty well for a 3rd party mod.

Hello KM clan,
I would like to first welcome you to the empires community. Your addition of members and a nicely run server should be a great aspect for the mod. I am with the Brenodi Sixth Infantry Division =[BSID]=, and would like to outstretch a hand to my fellow commrades in battle. You can check out our site here forums.bsid-clan.com, but I would recommend if you become a permanent fixture to the mod to check out empiresleague.com. This will be the official clan league of the game, battles taking in the form of a "RISK" style format.

i thought it was a bit bigger, check that file size with other mirrors lols

if you have poor FPS, I recommend dropping directx level - it wont effect the overall look of the mod much since its not "pretty" like other mods (at least thats the case for my machine)

seems like a pretty cool game..

but tbh my experiance last night was lame:

joined map: spawned.. ran around and died.. cudnt respawn as our barracks was killed...

lost...

the fools voted me in as commander cos i had a tag on.... we lost miserably as i built 2 of everything lol!!
