LOL - maybe if you read some of those steam update windows you see sometimes when you start Steam you'd know what was going on.

TF2 is part of the Orange Box from Valve, that contains HL2, HL2 : EP1 & EP2, Portal, TF2 and Peggle Extreme(!)

You can buy the Orange box early ($44.95), before the official release date of 10/10/07 (then $49.95) and take part in the TF2 beta test.

This also may sound silly but I really don't know. If I were to buy the orange box and install all the games etc (I dont have any of them) and say for some reason my pc blew or I had to reformat, does that mean I would lose all the games and have to buy them again to play them?

No, that's the whole point of steam, their linked to your account so you can log onto any machine install and play.
