You see how annoying these things can be Grrrr

Wasn't concentrating and one click reason i've not been about for a week

Anyway Hubby gave me a link to microsoft's virus fix webpage, can't recall it now but when i typed it in last night it came up with a connection error and microsoft saying i wasn't connected to the internet. Well that's a lot of crap as i was, so i reckon it's the virus that is blocking it.

Any thoughts on how to get around this?

How do i format the drive?

Someone at work here has suggested F DISK the drive. Can someone explain that please

ahhhh fdisk... now that is old school
they still running windows 98?

anyway you could use fdisk but... you should be able to do it from the XP install menu (either a quick format, or full format - go full)

edict:

ectualy no - your friend tricked me into making the commom mistake he/she does.

fdisk will only remove/add partition pointers to the drive - it will not do a full format (if i remember correctly )

He does like 98 lol

Once the fdisk is done i can use my recovery disk (recently confirmed that it has info on it) to do the format.

you should not even use fdisk.

you only need to format the disk, not edit the partitions...

you should be able to format from the XP installer
