OMG this is pissing me off now....

right tried 1gb paired ram then 512mb ram from the other pair still BSOD

Installed XP all seems to be running fine..

I have no idea whats causing this problem...

The only 2 things it can be is graphics card (which works fine under XP)

or the Motherboard which also seems to work fine!

time to revert back to XP I think.... BAH! Fucking

Vista grr was working perfectly ok before!!

gonna have a sit down and cry

not cool...

theres no driver listed, so its probably something in the kernel? dunno im guessing...

if it does not do it with XP then i would say vista is having problems with one of the bits of hardware, and chances are thats a driver issue.

other than updating every single driver for every single bit of hardware there's not much you can do..

i may be wrong, i may be right - what i do know tho, vista is the biggest heap of crap to come out of Microsoft since windows ME.

its not so much that the OS is a bad design, its a nice OS, but they have just dumped hardware vendors and legacy hardware.

even the biggest driver manufacturers in the world had issues with vista (and are still having them) - it seams compatibility standards have fallen, and thats one of the few things windows has going for it...

heh you dont see me laying down the green notes for vista. id rather stay with XP - or move to a linuxOS and just put up with all the problems caused by running linux. (like trying to play css on it for a start ^^)

Have you installed any Logitech drivers?.. they give out the same error as they are 32bit XP only.

err I don't even get that far Shad! this happens on the initial install! before Windows even boots up properly.

It happens just before the round windows logo would splah onto the screen.

Had a good look on MS website and it could be the bios... I might install a spare Bios chip I got and see if that works.

Or it could be a virus! well anouther night of attacking it today!!

i would leave your ROM's chips alone if i were you

it may be a virus - but i doubt it. especially if its attacked your bios image..... thats a pretty rare deal.

there is more chance of it being a virus on your hard disk though - if you can, use a fresh disk (thats never been connected to your system) and try again...

or i can hook you up with some shit to wipe that disk cleaner than your mothers... table.

I had exactly the same sort of problem on one of my machines - refused to install XP, causing a BSOD half way through the installation process. That was with a XP disk with SP1 on only - switched to a SP2 disk and it installed fine.

Recommended hardware upgrade for Alarm...

OK right had enough and now back to XP.

I pulled my PC apart tried 5 harddrives in different configs! tried the ram in any number of setups. pulle all unnessasry Cards and drive out of the system. Changed the PSU tried diffenert ram from another PC used DOD level HDD wiping software to nuke the drives Reset the bios and still no joy! just will not install just crash on first boot up!!!

So pretty pissed off!!!

Now im going to have to install Vista on my parents PC as I don't have a spare copy of XP!

What really gets my goat is that it all installed fine and was running perfectly untill I had 1 BSOD and the computer crashed since then I can't fix it

now if it installs ok on my parents PC Arrrghhhh!!!

Thanks for the help...I hould have listened to Frog and given up weeks ago.. (note to self "listen to frog!")
