That is not an IE7, it's caused malware/spyware on your PC - you need to clean the machine with Spybot - Search & Destroy and Adaware - You've been told this lots of times - you will continue to get pop-ups in game until you do this! Talk to someone who knows about these programs on MSN and they will talk you through the install process, including retrieving all the latest updates and immunising your systme against further infections. These programs must be regularly updated and used - I tend to do it once a month on "system cleaning day".

The IE7 release is causing problems, because lots of poeple have installed it (even if they are FF users) because it gets installed by Microsoft system updates.

The browser in CSS, which is used to display the MOTD uses the IE engine, which ever version is installed. This is why some people are getting crashes as they enter our server.

The MOTD has been replaced with a plain text file (as Frog has said) and will not launch a browser when displayed now.

The MOTD will shortly be recoded by ShadowDog to be IE7 friendly.

IE is a back end windows component (only way i can think to put it), that kinda means, loads of things use it, even if you dont notice.

a prime example here is source games.

if you have any security holes in IE, it can affect many many applications (like counterstrike)

.. if you use windows, you use IE, so keep it up to date.

(this is why its high priority on windows update)

Yes, but you forget Microsoft have written new code to create IE7.. so it will be at least a year before the large security holes are found!

now its on auto-update more malware creators will attempt exploits to get their money...

and more people will try and exploit it in their free time...

if there is a bug to be found, it will be found.

its just a matter of time - you are now less secure with anything but IE7, as IE7 is the only browser to be updated - IE6 bugs will remain unpatched but more IE6 bugs will be found
