Problem with some ram

I used the crucial pc scanner thing to check what ram would be best for my pc. Went on overclockers and found an alternative brand as i was also ordering a new case from there.. swapped everything to my new case and plugged in the ram but when i turn my pc on it won't boot up and resets before loading my desktop. Sometimes it has made it to my logon screen but no further.

I took the new ram out (2 x 1gig) and turned my pc on and it works fine.

There are only 2 free slots to put the new ram into and you can only put them in one way so if someone can tell me what im doing wrong or how i might fix this i'll be muchly thankful

- post the old ram speeds and the new ram speeds
- post the slot order you have inserted them in
- post the size of old and new ram sticks
- post full motherboard name

I would try to put new ram in the same slots as old one been in ...
and btw...SpecTec is shit ...Micron is much better
and 1 thing...new modules are not paired...they are from diffrent parts look at the serial no.

shove the 1gb boys in the blue slots
and the smaller ones in the black

my money would be on your BIOS settings.

I cant actually look up your motherboard because the asus website is a heap of SHIT

but what might be happening is the BIOS is setting the wrong (lower) clock speed for the ram which 2 of the sticks cant support (the 133mhz).

to fix you should force the settings instead of having it auto-detect.

the settings you want are:

clock: 200mhz
CAS Latency: 3.0
RAS to CAS: 3
RAS Percharge: 3
Tras: 8

those settings should work on all your sticks and thats the fastest setting supported by your motherboard. (PC3200 can hit 400mhz..or more.. so your motherboard must be teh slow?)

if that does not work then i'll keep thinking
