I need expert help on this on.

I have a Radeon 1950 Series graphics card and i have had it since the start of decmember. Every time i play counterstrike for over an hour it starts to jerk alot then it freezes still and i cant do anything the only thing i can do is restart. The sound jams in the same place and just stays.

Is this because its overheating and how do i stop it from overheating or prevent it.

ive got the same card

x1950 xtx 512mb

ermm, have u overclocked? mine crashes when i go onto console if its overclocked.

if its just tooo hot, download ati tool (its a overclocking tool)

and one of the options u can change the fanspeed.
my fanspeed runs at 17% and hotest will be 80*
if i turn it to 100% it will cool it down to 50
but its very loud

I have a sapphire x1950 xtx 512mb. when i first installed it i would get crashes where I would hear a high pitch tone through my headphones. Now I had upgraded from a x850pro AGP the the PCI-e (yes my mobo takes both agp and pci-e). I also had upgraded from a 3700+ 64 to 4600+ X2 64. and most of my games were unstable or just crashed on 3d view. I ended up taking the easy option of format and re-install of windows. otherwise i would spend hours trying to work out where the problem was. now all my games are stable (excpect medievil total war 2). ALSO FIRST TIME I INSTALLED IT A SATA CABLE WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE FAN!!!!(although im sure i checked there was nothing near it...) the fan still ran but slowly

according to catalyst at idle its at 77oC but under load it doesnt go much above 89oC

my fan is quiet but has a habbit of running up to speed to cool down then wind down and then back up it goes. there should be a delay or better stepping on when the fan starts and its running period after cooling down.but I have to say im getting excellent FPS at high AA AF HDR etc.

don't know if that is of any help. but you will probably find that a fresh install of windows helps boot speed.

keeping your system clean will keep boot times good...
i boot in under 30sec.

if your card is worth anything (chances are low with ATI), it will have a temp reading from it - check your temps
