Reciently my pc pulled down its electronic pants and gave me the finger, refusing to boot up so i had my hardrive copied onto another hardrive inside my computer so i now have 2 250gb drives and then use the recovery partition on one drive to reinstall and got my pc working again without loosing anything.

Now i have 2 hardrives both with a windows folder.. i want to delete one and all the files i don't need on that drive to keep as a back up.. but how do i know which one to delete? Is it windows on the C drive or the windows on the F drive?

How do i find out?

LOL interesting problem

look at the dates on the files, they would all have a creation date of when you copied them

failing that - you could attempt to rename the windows folder.

if its the windows folder in use then (tbw ive not done this myself) you should not be able to do it.

if you can rename it then, its not in use, or, windows will shortly crash and die because it let you do something dumb.

if this ever happens agaian, dont bother to save the windows folder anyway - you cannot boot to a drive you have just copied the files from, there is more to it than just files

edit:
also chances are its booting from C, so test on the F

Woohoo cheers frog.

I right clicked on the windows folder in the c drive and there wasn't even a rename option in the right click menu.
