hey all i just got a wireless router and i can't figure out how to put a password on the router.

i m using a d-link 524 wireless and i want to get it secured so that the laptops have to login to get access

i realize having a unsecured wireless is kinda a bad idea so i was wondering if anyone can help

i have never had one of those routers, so im not sure but i think this should help..

you need to activate encryption.
your packets will be encrypted with a key, and this key is your "password", which allows for your laptop to un-encrypt the packets.

WEP is secure enough for you probably...
it has its holes, but all wireless is insecure... if you want security, go wired.

so, hunt round in the routers web page interface for wep/encryption

if your using the windows wireless config tool (which i recomend you do unless your using an intel wireless adapter, then use the intel software as its quite nice), it will prompt you for the password
