I will make a full post showing you how, for the meantime grab yourself a tga plugin for photoshop (if your running an older version), install it. Make image, create a new alpha channel select what you want as invisable, save as tga with alpha channel. import into sprays..

but that is the quick way, gimme a bit and i will do a full tutorial with screenies..

With the gimp it's easy, just make the bits you want transparent, save it as yadayada.tga and untick the RLE compression box on the save options menu that pops up.

I don't even touch any alpha settings! You just save it as a tga with no compression.
