hey guys sry about just popping in for advice, but i m busy with midterms and i will probably be back online in the summer

anyways heres my problem, i have microsoft word 2003 installed with norton antivirus program. i uninstalled norton and now ms word would not run because it usually does a virus scan with norton before it loads the files. i did a pretty messy uninstall with norton(just deleted the folder when the add/remove program window would not get ride of it)

i m wondering if theres anyway that i can configure ms word not to run norton before it loads

anyways if shadow or frogger can help me out, i would be very gratful

I think the easiest way would be to re-install / repair Office. The other easy solution will be to install Norton Anti-Virus again, check if Word is launching, and then uninstall it again (properly this time).

It's going to be a pain (and a very slow procedure) to get to Word internal settings and disable whatever Symantec has added to it to make it scan for viruses. Probably involves pain-in-the-arse browsing of the registry. And I doubt it's _that_ easy... Messing about with Office internals can just make the problem worse.

Or is it the case when you don't have the CD?

norton is split into lots of smaller programs, you realy should have uninstalled it.............

what i would suggest is repair norton (use the cd) then uninstall it - that way it will remove itself..

if word is still screwed after that, then you could try to re-install/repair word, but i would think uninstalling norton will disable the word scanning..
