I've (almost) got the green light from Wife for a machine upgrade!

£1000 plus'ish - no monitor needed.

What do you recommend?

I'm happy with either DIY or pre built.

Wouldn't mind considering water cooling.

I'm not a FPS whore - 60 steady will do me.

water cooling is cool (excuse the punt) not had any problems with mine, if its all assembled rite and make sure all pipes are connected propaly (or not twisted) then you wont have a problem.

Dont buy pre built, buy bits and build it yourself, wud probably be a lot cheaper, MB and proccesser, new gfx card, and maybe a bit more ram, £1000 easy enough to get top system.

**rifle makes whip sound

joke joke, lol but in terms of the comp the only recommendation i would make is to buy an ati card and buy ocz ram, i've had a lot of trouble with alternate brands for both my ram and car and it seem those two companys are pretty consistantly decent.

Totals coming in about the £1300 mark.

Is anyone running Windows XP64? Any experience with it - compatability issues?

Ah windows xp64, I know all about it. Basically dont bother with it yet, its so full of bugs that it really isnt worth the trouble. Lots of people who run it are reverting back to standard XP, the main probs with it at the moment are stability and resource hogging, these things wont be fixed for a while yet. Win XP64 runs incredibly slowly and crash's more times than a drunk disqualified driver poppin pills at 100mph with two bald tyres and heavy rain on his way home from his 5th divorce with nothing to else loose.

Ordered today - delivery tomorrow - I've got the day off.

If it comes at a decent time should all be ready for KM Night - but I'll have to install the OS too
