This just started to happen over the weekend. I would be on the computer for a bit and out of the blue this very annoying sound starts coming from my pc!!!

It isnt a mechanical noise more like some sort of buzzer!

I had that a little while ago, took side panel off and there was a wire just slightly touching my side fan. Easily done, easily fixed with cableties. Or noisy drives???

Hmmm...

Could be one of two things;

Some MB's are fitted with buzzers to warn you if the CMOS batery is getting low.

More obvious thing is that a fan is shagged (bearings gone or spinning off centre) or that it's now rubbing against a cable or something.

You dont recharge em, you change em i think? There like a big watch battery, again, i think.

I had that once as well it was quite loud,first i thought my computer was going to explode or something but after a while(about a week) it just stopped :/

The sound came from about the cd drivers and they were both empty so still dont know what it was....
