I've got a 2.5 harddrive from a laptop with no screen. I took it out and bought a 2.5 to 3.5 inch IDE adapter from ebay.



i unpluged the 'slave' dvd drive and connected the cable to the laptop hdd but when i loaded windows the master dvd drive nor the laptop hdd showed in mycomputer.

I shut down and tried it again with the master pluged into the hdd and the slave plug left unplugged but the same thing happend and no extra drives showed up in mycomputer.

Anyone got an ideas why it isn't working and what i can do to fix it? I'm not in a rush but i would quite like to get the stuff off the hdd if possible.

laptop hard drives have no "safety hole" - make sure your plugging it in the right way up

Also, if its using IDE, you will need to restart your machine with it plugged in as IDE is detected @ startup
