yo first post lol so hello everyone, ive been playin recently on my bros comp since dells been a bunch of total fuckers and have taking since 7 june to get my pc ive only jus been told that their is a further delay now till 26 sep so that was it they can fuck off orderin of PC Specialist now so *prays* ill be playing again in 2-3 weeks on my comp an probs 1 week on my lil bros comp. Anyway i wanted to go sli but its gonna knock my comps price up to £1600 an thts a lil expensive i can drop it to £1200 but it will be with the Nvidea 7950 GTX2 card instead of 2 Nvidea 7900 GTX's but since the 7950 is new ive been wonderin if it can cope with the latest games jus i know its got 1GB of graphical memory but i know from experience its the speed of it that counts, so anyone know if the card can handle itself ? or am i gonna have to get 2 6800GTX instead

btw im 18 on tuesday woo go me wont be concious till late the day after

tbh i wouldnt get one, you wont be able to SLI it and ive heard that there are a few problems with them, mainly overheating and some driver probs.

SLI doesn't help a bit anyways... (well 10% but I won't shell out another 300 for that)

I'd like to see you run CSS at 1600x1200 with 16xAA and 16xAF and still get 70+ FPS without SLI...

Nvidia Readies GeForce 7950 GT Graphics Card.
Nvidia: We Want to Hit ATI While They Are Down

Category: Video

by Anton Shilov

[ 08/16/2006 | 11:42 PM ]

Nvidia Corp., a leading supplier of graphics processors, is reportedly planning to unveil a graphics card that is likely to offer performance between the levels of the GeForce 7900 GT and the GeForce 7900 GTX as well as offer its performance for the price of about $299.

According to slides, which are presumably from Nvidia Corp., the company plans to released its GeForce 7950 GT product, which features 24 pixel processors, 8 vertex processors and 512MB of memory. The graphics card will come clocked at 550MHz for the chip and 1400MHz for the memory, as compared to GeForce 7900 GTX’s 650MHz/1600MHz clock-speeds and GeForce 7900 GT’s 450MHz/1320MHz.

Slides, which were published by IT.com.cn web-site claim that the GeForce 7950 GT is “the new king of the hill at $299” and compare it against ATI Radeon X1900 Pro graphics card based on the unreleased code-named RV570 graphics processing unit (GPU). It is unclear how Nvidia Corp. has managed to benchmark the unreleased product of its rival. Moreover, there is unofficial information by certain media outlets that ATI is planning to release a Radeon X1900 XT 256MB product at $299.

Another slide asks “Why are we making changes?” and responds that “to hit ATI while they are down!” causing doubts of the slides’ authenticity.

Nvidia Corp. officials did not immediately respond to emails seeking for comments.

Sadly my TFT can't handle 1600x1200

Thing that I said about SLI not being that great is from what I read, not from own experience btw.

EDIT: While we're on the subject: can anyone tell me what AF does and what it's for, cause I don't see any improvements with it on or off

i have been looking at the nividea 7950GTX2 which has 1GB of ddr and 2 GPU, ive seen some bench marks and it outperforms any card out, sad point is nvidea have said it wont be able to sli untill drivers are released, though i wont be able to afford another one anyway in a few months since im nothin more than a student , though pc specialist would allow me to buy 2 of the 7950's i guess they will use a better board thats normally able to hold 4 graphics cards. im just a little worried about the over heating, specialy now summers are gettin warmer an warmer. Ill jus scan the net an see if any1s got one and if so how they are doing, thx for the help

From what I've read from that article I don't care much for AF...
