PURE IS COMING !!!!!!!!!!1111111111
this is THE biggest news all year - valve are allowing server owners to force CRC checks on all client files to make sure they are the same version - this includes:
- Skins
- Models
- Textures
- Sounds
from the man himself:
"Server can now force the client to match the server's files. If the server sets sv_pure to 1, it'll load pure_server_whitelist.txt from the game path, which specifies sets of files that are allowed to come from Steam, allowed to come from disk, and require CRC checks.
When the client connects to a server and receives the whitelist, it reloads resources that may be "dirty" (like the client loaded the file off disk but the server only allows the file to come from Steam).
The server can set sv_pure_trace to show which files clients are requesting CRCs for. By default, the server will just show a warning when a client has a mismatched file. If they set sv_pure_kick_clients to 1, then the server will kick clients that have mismatching files."

few changes to the teamspeak server.
when you now say "teamspeak" or "ts" from in-game you will be sent to the correct channel for the server you are on.
for example, if you are on the public server you will be sent to the public server channel, as is the case with GunGame.
you will also notice a few new channels, such as general chat and a few other games.
if you join teamspeak from the website, or using the teamspeak client itself you will enter the lobby.
the lobby is a default channel where nobody can talk. to continue you must select the channel you wish to talk in.

Updates to the Source Multiplayer games have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:
* Improved multiplayer voice communication, now using a much clearer codec
* First release of a completely reworked in game text chat to which now includes a chat history and a filter to only see important chat messages
* Fixed not being able to use sounds, decals or models if they were downloaded from the server

Upgrades on the network our server is running on means the server will be offline from around 4pm till 6pm.
As this is at the data centre, there’s not much we can do about it, so all we can do is say sorry for the downtime.
This network upgrade may fix some ping issues a small number of you have had.
The match server remains online, as does the teamspeak - so feel
free to go have a game with your fellow clan members there if the server is not back in time for your gaming needs.
Thanks for your understanding, and sorry again for the downtime. |
